Nashville Reviews: Hooky Entertainment

Hooky Entertainment is a new bowling alley, arcade, movie theater, restaurant, and bar in Nashville Yards. I did a public service and went opening weekend, so that all my loyal readers can know if it is worth it or not. You’re welcome!

Let’s start with the best part: the Movie Theater. If we’re being honest, this is probably the only thing that makes this place worthwhile. Before Hooky, I had to go to Green Hills Mall, 100 Oaks, or Opry to see a movie. So, basically, not even Nashville. Now there is a theater playing major movies right in the middle of downtown, which is super convenient for me. This theater IS a little different as they do couch seating. There are a few single chairs, but most seating is on a couch. I thought that the couch was even more comfy than the regular recliner seat at other theaters, but I was sitting next to Zakk, so I could really spread out. I think this seating would be hella awkward if you went with the homie. Another thing is this is a fully dine-in theater, meaning you can’t grab concessions before sitting down, so I suggest you get there a little early if you want to order food/concessions so you aren’t ordering during the movie. I enjoyed the dine-in experience, but I am good at drowning out people talking. I think if you’re not, this would not be a vibe for you as they are serving like the whole time. Also, the tables were too small. That being said, the soda and popcorn are unlimited, so that’s cool!

In additon to the movie theater, there is a bowling alley, arcade, bar, and lounge where you can eat or drink. I will say that this place is a bit smaller than I expected. There are about 5 bowling lanes and the arcade is decent-sized, but really not that big. The bar/lounge area is reminiscent of an airport lounge and isn’t necessarily somewhere I’d want to hangout. That being said, if you did a combined bowling/arcade night with some food and drinks I think it could be like the best date night ever. It’s just not big/cool enough to only come for one activity (other than a movie). Unless you’re, like, really into bowling.

Overall, I think this is a great addition to downtown Nashville and to Nashville Yards in particular. I think this will garner a lot of foot traffic that was still missing from the Nashville Yards, and add some much needed non-alcohol activities to the downtown area. I am just so happy to be able to walk to the movies! HMU if you trynna go see one!
